My name is Eric
Mader-Lin. I'm an English teacher
living in Taipei, Taiwan. I teach
in a private school, and most of my students here are 12-14 years old.
I like to help my students
learn to write in English. I
especially like helping them write scary or humorous stories. This is challenging for them, because
their native language is not English, but Chinese. Even so, writing stories is more interesting for them than
writing other things (such as essays, diaries, or reports).
I often give my students an idea
for a story in class, then we talk about what might happen in the story. The students write up the story as
homework--what they think should happen--and I help them correct and edit what
they write. Finally students will
sometimes draw pictures for the story, or we might publish it as a small book. Writing stories in this way gives
students a great feeling of accomplishment.
Many of our stories are scary or
crazy. We hope you have a good
time reading them.
